News Trading Rule
Is news trading allowed?
During the Challenge: News trading is fully allowed — no lockout windows, no restrictions.
On the Funded Account (default): News trading is allowed as well. By default only a lockout window around high-impact news applies.
Lockout window (default)
- 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after high-impact news events (red folder in the economic calendar)
- Also applies to FOMC speeches, statements and news events
- No opening or closing of positions inside that window
News Trading upgrade (optional)
You can add the News Trading upgrade at checkout. It removes the lockout window entirely:
- Trade before, during and after high-impact news — no lockout
- Applies to all instruments, including FOMC events
- Applies to your whole account, also once you move to the funded phase
- Selected once when purchasing your challenge or instant account
What happens in case of violations?
Without the upgrade, trades during lockout times do not lead to account suspension, but all profits from these trades are removed.
Why this rule?
News events can cause extreme volatility and unpredictable price movements. The default lockout window protects both you and us from extraordinary market conditions that have nothing to do with trading skill.
Tip: Use an economic calendar to plan high-impact events in advance and time your trades accordingly — or add the News Trading upgrade if news events are part of your strategy.
